A celebration of the mining horses who worked underground in the coal mines of Britain from the mid 18th century to the mid 20th century.
The ponies themselves needed to be small, in fact below 12 hands to be able to work efficiently in the pits. Even so, I've painted the horse in the style of a Celtic War Horse, in admiration of these little ponies and their big hearts.
Look deep into the abstract painting and you'll see the horse in the centre ground, along with industry, pit machinary, furnaces and tracks. The sun and sky and a bird in flight birds, representing nature, surrounding the pit.
The original painting is possibly available. Please ask.
With the canvas being 4cm deep, it is designed to hang on a wall without a frame. however, if you'd prefer a frame, this can be arranged. Please get in touch for a price.
